HANDEL IN ITALY, VOL. 2
· Norwegian boy-soprano Aksel
Rykvvin has quickly built a
reputation as a rare talent, combining
an intelligent musicality with a
beautifully resonan ttreble voice.
+ On his debut recording he is
accompanied by The Orchestra of the
Age of Englightenment under Nigel
Short.
·
Many of the arias performed
are considered too technically
demanding for boy singesr in the
present day.
· Christian Ihle Hadland is recognized
as one of Norway's most exciting
young pianists. Hailed in the
Norwegian press as an artist who
"shows himself as a unique musician
whose artistry should be heard on
the world's concert stages."
·
This albums is following Hadland's
debut album where he received
astounding reviews - "Christian is out
with a solo album on Simax, and it is,
in every way, a remarkable release."
· Classical Opera continue their series
of the complete Mozart operas
on Signum with Zaide - a new
completion of Mozart's unfinished
work by conductor Ian Page.
·
Composed during his early 20's,
Mozart began work on the opera in
Salzburg but later left the work to
compose Idomeneo, subsequently
leaving no overture or third act. The
opera is set in a totalitarian regime
where a couple have fallen in love,
incurring the jealous of the ruling
sultan.
· London Early Opera continue their
new series of Handel's works with the
second volume of pieces composed
in Italy. Both volumes of Handel in
Italy explore the young composer's
Italian years through his cantatas,
sacred pieces, operatic works and
instrumental compositions.
·
Featuring performances from
internationally acclaimed soloists,
the sopranos Sophie Bevan and Mary
Bevan with their uncle, baritone
Benjamin Bevan, conducted and
conceived by Bridget Cunningham.
